Ep. 229 – The Heart of Markness Led Zeppelin Podcast

We hear a few from Feb. 1, 1969 (the Late Show) at the Fillmore East, NYC. Led Zeppelin is winding up their first tour and they’re winning hearts and minds with their energy and virtuosity. I play Train>I Can’t Quit You and How Many More Times. Amazing band.

Ep. 228 – The Heart of Markness Led Zeppelin Podcast

We hear a remaster of Led Zeppelin’s first concert in two years, July 23, 1979 in Copenhagen, DK. The sound is stellar as is the performance. Everyone involved was eager to prove that there was still gas in the tank.
A unique peek at late era Zep playing a small 1000ish capacity venue a week before playing Knebworth in front of hundreds of thousands.

Ep. 223 – The Heart of Markness Led Zeppelin Podcast

We hear some fantastic playing from Led Zeppelin in Landover, MD on 5/30/77 courtesy of Liriodendron’s fine remaster, and Led Zeppelin Boots’ restoration of lost tape with an audience from the same night, for the first time.
This is a Jonesy night although everyone is in top form. We hear Achilles and one of the best top shelf No Quarters with amazing interplay between all. A nice one.

Ep. 221 – The Heart of Markness Led Zeppelin Podcast

We listen to a stellar Mike Millard master recording of Led Zeppelin at the LA Forum on June 25, 1977. 46 years ago this week the band played an epic 5 nights at the Forum, and in recognition of this feat I play a couple of songs from one of those legendary gigs, one song being a 30 minute brilliant No Quarter. For real. Good stuff.

Ep. 220 – The Heart of Markness Led Zeppelin Podcast.

We hear a new revision of NiteOwl’s matrix of Led Zeppelin 8/31/69 at the Texas International Pop Festival. This time he’s demixed the bass and drums from the mono aud recording, and split/remixed them to sound more like a professional release, when mixed with the voice/guitar heavy soundboard recording. Another amazing piece. Sounds great!

January 15, 15, 1973 Stoke UK – The Heart of Markness Led Zeppelin Podcast

January 15, 1973 Stoke UK. A great soundboard recording remastered and remixed by NakedEye25 to sound even better. We hear Dancing Days, Over The Hills, and Dazed.
A great show from a unique tour of small venues in the UK. It’s neat hearing the biggest band in the world playing 800 seat halls again.

We hear 4 songs from Led Zeppelin in Hiroshima on Sept. 27, 1971 on their first Japanese Tour. Great stuff on this tour and this show. I play Heartbreaker, Since I’ve Been Loving You, a 20 minute Whole Lotta Love w/ myriad medleys, and Communication Breakdown. Awesome and joyous.

Ep. 215 – The Heart of Markness Led Zeppelin Podcast

The 1st of 3 nights at the Winterland in San Fran, Led Zeppelin are absolutely incendiary. This is April 25, 1969 and we’re nearing the end of telecaster Jimmy. We hear Train Kept A Rollin’, maybe the best You Shook Me ever (Robert’s voice!), and As Long As I Have which is a kitchen sink of covers and references (Bags Groove? Damn).
This is an amazing show of young hungry Zep leapt from the gate and reaching their stride.
