Ep. 56 of The Heart of Markness

This is one of the best live recordings out there. Mike Millard’s Led Zeppelin 3/11/75 is just superb. The performances are great and the audience recording sounds professional. Here the boys at their indulgent best. Dazed and Confused is played as well as the funky Whole Lotta Love/Crunge, a primal Kashmir, and a sublime Over The Hills And Far Away. Great stuff.

Sept. 19, 1970 – Evening Show

One of the best shows ever.

On Sept 19, 1970 Led Zeppelin played two shows at Madison Square Garden, in New York City. It was reported in the press that each member of the band earned $30,000 for less than six hours work. Good for them. They earned it because this show contains one of the hottest hours of live music I’ve ever heard.

July 24, 1979 – Episode 54 Heart of Markness

The Press Were Not Kind

We revisit Led Zeppelin’s July 24, 1979 show in Copenhagen, DK, which we discussed in my very first episode. I play Celebration Day, Over The Hills, Since I’ve Been Loving You, and the retooled version of Whole Lotta Love. This is an intimate warm up gig for the Knebworth shows, and it’s an incredible performance.

You can listen to this entire show, including (imo) THE BEST performance of Ten Years Gone, for free right here: https://mega.nz/folder/OpkBHRQQ#3y5xP_bIkjoFrE3I1KdP-g

4 Source Matrix Recording.

The definitive version of this legendary show.

The March 16, 1973 Led Zeppelin show is, arguably, the band at their musical peak. Nite Owl has done this show a solid by creating an AMAZING stereo matrix from 4 separate sources, making a great show with ok/good recordings into a great show with a great recording! The upgrade in sound is incredible. You can download this whole show right here: https://mega.nz/folder/mwdCWYSR#zJ08rmkSsLeht34EeAJtgw

Ep. 50 – The Heart of Markness Podcast

Imagine being there.

I’d not played anything from Led Zeppelin’s only Australian tour before, so when dadgad posted his new remaster of the Feb 19, 1972 Adelaide gig, I was all for it. It’s a great show. Fun. Loud. Outdoors.

I play Immigrant Song, the entire acoustic set (Going to California, That’s The Way, Tangerine, Bron-yr-Aur Stomp), and a rollicking Whole Lotta Love with medleys for days. A wonderful time.

Ep. 49 – The Heart of Markness Podcast

Led Zeppelin June 3, 1973 LA Forum

This is one of the best, if not THE best, show from Led Zeppelin’s 1973 US Tour. Zep always deliver in Los Angeles and this is no exception. You can download the entire show (the sound isn’t the best) right here: https://mega.nz/folder/u5VjDKKL#a5Tn0W8ATuYUIhFzNVXyJQ
